Press Release, October 2007

"Artful Education proudly announces the arrival of a funky new calendar which features some of the city’s most prominent citizens in some very unexpected poses. The “Portland Icons: Predictably Unpredictable” 2008 calendar offers one-of-a-kind photos benefiting arts and music education for children.

The inspiration for the calendar came from Bud Clark’s famous 1978 “Expose Yourself to Art™” photo in which Portland’s former mayor flashed Norman J. Taylor’s naked woman statue. The original poster is still available at www.errolgraphics.com. This time around, Clark and current Mayor Tom Potter are caught “exposing” themselves to the amusement of former Portland Mayor Vera Katz.

Other fun photos include a legendary football coach playing with toy cars, an NBA star finger painting and the police chief caught with her hands in the doughnut jar. According to Artful Education founder Lyndsay Levy, “This calendar is as wild, weird and wonderful as Portland. It also provides a fun way to support arts and music education in our schools.
